Contractor dies in laboratory explosion

ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. – An Aberdeen Proving Ground contractor died Saturday afternoon in an explosion at a laboratory.

Officials say the explosion and subsequent fire happened in the Edgewood area of the installation, at about 3:00 p.m.

The Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire Department responded to the fire alarm and 911 call at a Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense laboratory facility.
