Associated Press at The Washington Post  June 2, 2011

WASHINGTON — The family of a civilian contractor killed in a 2008 truck bombing in Pakistan has sued the Marriott International hotel chain.

The lawsuit says the Marriott in Islamabad, where the bombing occurred, failed to adequately protect its guests and evacuate the hotel after an initial explosion that caused a fire in the truck’s cab

The Sept. 20, 2008 suicide truck bombing killed more than 50 people, injured many others and severely damaged the building.

The suit was brought by the family of Albert DiFederico, a Virginia man who was in Pakistan as a civilian contractor for the State Department. It also says the hotel failed to adequately train its staff.
