G4S Swallowing Competitors?

The Botswana Gazette   MODIRI MOGENDE 15 February 2012

G4S Botswana is said to be strategically positioning itself for more takeover of its competitors.
Towards end of 2011, the security service provider acquired one of its leading competitors, Trojan Security Service and a cleaning services company, Facilities Management Group (Pty) Ltd for the tune of P26.4 million. However, G4S this week announced the cancellation of the agreement with Trojan.
According to an analyst within the financial sector, the company which is the only BSE listed security company has a long-term strategy to buy out even more of its competitors.
“The company looks to be on a consolidation mission, being the large cooperation they are, acquisitions and merges are the only way they can increase their foothold in the security and service market,” said the analyst preferring anonymity.
